Justin Wiseman, GB98, Aaia
In 2008, with nearly 20 years of experience in construction, design, fabrication, and leadership, Justin Wiseman founded Base Construction, LLC (now BASE Design + Build) to fulfill his vision of consistently following best practices across these and related areas essential to making spaces and things. A master builder, his accomplishments are exceptionally diverse. While earning a BFA, he worked for a residential and commercial framing subcontractor, and also taught welding at the UNM sculpture department. After graduation he immersed himself in construction projects that ranged from small residential to large commercial and required working with both traditional and nontraditional materials. These experiences led him to pursue a Master of Architecture degree. In graduate school, he focused on historical preservation and green building/LEED certification. He has worked on major civic projects such as museums at Antoine Predock Architect and taught welding in the Art Department at UNM. His foundational values are a deep commitment to family, sustaining the earth, and universal quality of life. He is likewise dedicated to attending to the details of design and collaboration.
